Most restoration companies are guessing

Ask a restoration owner which marketing produces their best jobs and the honest answer is usually a guess. Calls come in, crews go out, and nobody connects the two. So budget gets allocated on instinct, and the channel that happens to be most visible gets credit for work that came from somewhere else.

The problem is structural: a phone call is the conversion in this industry, and phone calls are invisible to standard analytics. You can see that someone visited a page. You cannot see that they called from the truck park ten minutes later, or that the call was a wrong number, or that it turned into a fourteen thousand dollar mitigation job.

Call tracking closes that gap. Each source gets its own number, every call is recorded and attributed, and the reporting rolls up to the only numbers that matter: cost per lead and cost per booked job, broken out by city.

What tracking and reporting covers

Set up once, then reported every month in a form you can act on.

  • Dynamic number insertion — the number on your site changes based on how the visitor arrived, so organic, paid and LSA traffic are attributed separately
  • Call recordings — hear whether a campaign produces real mitigation work or price shoppers, and whether your team converts the calls they get
  • Missed call reporting — the most expensive number in restoration marketing, and the one most agencies never show you
  • Lead scoring — calls categorised as qualified job, price shopper, wrong number or spam, so the averages mean something
  • Form and chat tracking — every enquiry tied to its source, not just the phone
  • City-level breakdown — which markets are producing and which are consuming budget without returning jobs
  • Cost per booked job — the only marketing metric that maps to your P&L
  • Conversion tracking into Google Ads — so bidding optimises toward real jobs rather than raw call volume
  • A plain-language monthly summary — what worked, what did not, and what we are changing next

What actually lands in your inbox

One page you can read in ten minutes, not a dashboard login you will never use.

01
Calls and forms by source

Every enquiry attributed to organic, paid, LSA or direct, with the city it came from.

02
Cost per booked job

By channel and by market, so budget decisions stop being a matter of opinion.

03
Missed call count

How many rang out, when, and what that is likely to have cost you.

04
Scored call list

Qualified jobs separated from price shoppers and spam, with recordings linked.

05
Trend against last month

Whether the direction is right, not just a snapshot.

The specific adjustments we are making next and the reasoning behind them.

How reporting gets set up

Usually live within the first two weeks.

01

Instrument

Tracking numbers provisioned per source, dynamic insertion installed, forms and analytics wired up and verified end to end.

02

Baseline

A first month of clean data, so later changes are measured against something real rather than a guess.

03

Score

We listen to calls and categorise them, because raw call counts flatter every channel equally.

04

Act

Monthly review, budget moved toward what produces booked jobs, with the reasoning written in plain language.

What gets reported, and by whom

The difference between a report you act on and one you file.

What this usually uncovers

The first month of clean tracking is frequently uncomfortable. Common findings: a meaningful share of calls going unanswered after hours, a lead source billing for calls that were wrong numbers, and one city quietly consuming a third of the ad budget while producing almost no work.

It also tends to vindicate things owners suspected but could not prove, like organic rankings producing better jobs than paid, or a particular service line being far more profitable per lead than the volume suggests.

Either way you stop arguing about impressions. The conversation becomes which city to expand into next, which is a much better problem to have.

Tracking and reporting questions

Will call tracking hurt my local SEO?

Not when it is done properly. Dynamic number insertion swaps the number for visitors while leaving your real business number in the site code and in your Google Business Profile, so consistency is preserved. Badly implemented call tracking can cause problems, which is why implementation matters.

Do I have to tell callers they are being recorded?

Recording law varies by state and province. We configure announcements to match the jurisdictions you operate in, and we will tell you where you have obligations. This is general information rather than legal advice, so confirm with your own counsel.

Can you track leads from Local Services Ads?

Yes, and it is worth doing. LSA leads can be disputed when they are unqualified, but only if you have the evidence. Recordings make those disputes straightforward.

What reporting do I actually receive?

A monthly summary with calls, forms and booked jobs by source and city, cost per lead, cost per booked job, missed calls, and a short written explanation of what changed and why. Not a forty-page dashboard export.

Do I own the tracking data?

Yes. The accounts are in your name and the history stays with you if we part ways.

What if my team is not logging job outcomes?

Then we start with what we can measure and build the habit gradually. Even call scoring alone gets you most of the way, and we help set up something light enough that your office staff will actually keep doing it.
